Hey,
I'm having problems staying logged in. I choose "Log in" from the board index and check the box to remember me and as soon as I close the browser window and come back I am signed out. Tested in Firefox and IE, yes my cookie settings are fine too.

Perhaps a cookie problem on GSO's end? If you have specific cookie settings in the ACP through IPB perhaps you should remove them as you only really need them when you have two boards on the same domain, and sometimes cause problems anyway.

Thanks
ComSec
nothing wrong with our end... vortex... and your the only person to complain..so it has to be your side ? try clearing your cache...and also click

the delete cookies set by this board.... see if that works

I don't have the problem at all. Everything is normal by me, perhaps it's because of the static IP session thing, I am not sure if IPB has such a feature. And if you are a dial-up user, then you may have cookie problems because of this. But I am not sure at all...

Well i tried it with dial-up and the cookie is still not bothering me.. it was still logged in... yea but vort3x ur cookies are expiring way too soon than they should... check ur cookie settings!

It's not a problem with my browser or cookie settings, I use Firefox and currently every other IPB or vB forum I visit keeps me logged in.
ComSec
i will take another look ..see if i can pinpoint the problem
w00dy
it does it to me if i dont go to www.governmentsecurity.org/forum. I have to be sure to go to www.gs.o/forum not just gs.o/forum
beardednose
Had the same problem recently ohmy.gif

You better recheck your cookie settings.....that's what mine was. From your description, it appears only your PC can be at fault (I said YOUR PC, not YOU, is at fault laugh.gif )

ok call it amazing but lol i got this problem too...
if i goto governmentsecurity.com/forum i have to login..
but if i goto governmentsecurity.org and then click forum i see myself already logged in.

yeh this prob is there . u login from www.governmentsecurity.org/forum and u will stay logged in on returning while u use governmentsecurity.org/forum u wont be able to be logged in . This is same for all IPB boards ( just checked other site from 2 url's ) . Most site host forum on a subdomain like forums.site.com so people use that but here main url for board is www.governmentsecurity.org/forum so u need to come here only if u need to be logged in.

Ps- i think you should keep forums.governmentsecurity.org as main url and www.governmentsecurity.org/forum as a redirect ..
tibbar
i have the same problem, it's been happening since the site moved server.

im using firefox, and clearing cookies didnt resolve it...
Killaloop
this looks like a bug in IPB.
I'm using inet explorer at work and got the same problem here.
make sure to use the full http adress, else your cookies won't work.
Terminal
Yeh its in all IPB boards . Your cookies work only when u visit site from original url specified by admins thats www.governmentsecurity.org/forum . Admins should keep forums.governmentsecurity.org as main url for board and www.governmentsecurity.org/forum as a redirect to forums.governmentsecurity.org . then u will be logged in properly even if u use www.governmentsecurity.org/forum , governmentsecurity.org/forum or forums.governmentsecurity.org smile.gif .. Or there maybe some other workout's for the prob which i am not aware of . for now i bookmarked www.governmentsecurity.org/forum wink.gif

Actually,
I remember this issue coming up at the IPS Customer Forums with a cookie problem when upgrading to 2.0.4. I am not sure when you upgraded but shortly after Matt found the problem and he updated the download.

Re-download a fresh copy of 2.0.4, then re-upload the following files:

sources/forums.php
sources/functions.php
sources/search.php
sources/topics.php

No, it's not all IPB boards. I am a member of quite a few IPB boards and it works fine. Majority aren't using subdomains either.

It's just a small bug in the initial release of 2.0.4 but was fixed shortly after. I will see if I can find the exact topic at IPS where Matt confirmed it and supplied a fix along with updating the download package.

just bookmark http://www.governmentsecurity.org/forum/index.php?act=idx instead and you will stay logged in.
