Full Version: Systm.org

So I'm sure some of you watched the train wreck that was thebroken.org. Lets be honest, the coolest thing they ever did was burning thermite in a laptop. Looks like these guys are back with http://www.systm.org/ . Their first episode has to do with "warspying," which I was unaware even existed. Basically it's wardriving but for open wireless cameras instead of APs, they even have schematics to build a warspying-thing. Check it.

yeah it was quite interesting. I watched the first sytm ep a few weeks ago. Would be good if they brought out more eps faster.

Sorry but these guys are ripping the work off of article writers in 2600, and then not giving them credit. Sad very sad.

ouch

That is a major bummer, I had no idea about the copying thing...

I just lost alot of respect for them because of it, its the same with music - you hear a cool new song - then find out it was just a rip of another song...

Give Credit where Credit is Due

Although, I liked their Broken work .... But I wanted Hacker Ramsey in Systm

I have not seen them produce one piece of original work. They just duplicate with out giving credit. I would not be surprised if they do a bit about netcat in their next ep.

About 2 or 3 quarters back, 2600 had a complete article about war spying.

Many of these guys are just publicity whores. I admit I have almost fallen in the same traps, I mean who doesn't want more people to know your name, but I have had good friends to smack me in the head. Namely a guy that has "Com" in his name.

So your saying, if we managed to make a half decent, original (or atleast giving credit to) video / documentary - and put in the GSO as a thanks, or as a presented by, you wouldnt want that ?

Ive been thinking about this alot, not that stupid shit they do, but stuff like;

- nMap Scans (ie using -sS -sI RPC scans ftp proxy bounces etc)
- HoneyNet Projects
- Port Knocking Techniques
- Compiling a new Debian/Gentoo System with Hardened Kernel Support / GRSec ?
- etc etc etc

I may bring this up again at a later date and in the other section... But have a quick think about it... Include the flash animations - interviews with respectable people (ie, find some security guy who used nmap to pen-test for a company - ok - someone a little better than that - but you see my point). Not their episode shit, but actual security documentaries....
GSecur
Of course I would, but give credit where credit is due. If you are doing something on nmap, do the tutorial but make sure you mention fyodor. It's that simple. Sometimes when I write a tutorial I even forget where I got the ideas from but I will mention the fact that I got the idea from somewhere, my poor memory just prevents this from happening. wink.gif It's just god form
SKEWTER
Ya These guys were better on TV when they did ScreenSavers or whatever the hell it is now. Man that show sure went to crap
