Full Version: Monad Shell (msh)
exobot
Looks like MS are replacing their cmd with the new Monad Shell, or MSH for short.

Interview here:

For those of you who want instructions on how to install it on XP/2003/whatever:

You can just run "msh.exe" if you have a Longhorn build.

Here's a Google translate to html from a MS .ppt about MSH, not much actual content (lots of lists of commands/operators/etc though) since I guess it was meant to be given with a speech, still interesting.

Personally, I think this looks to be very interesting, much more productive and useful - however, it could just as easily be a flop though...

Edit: Screwed up the formatting a bit, sorry.

QUOTE
Monad was started as a project to provide a more powerful command line competitive with the BASH shell on Unix and Linux

Seems like overall a good idea, but yet again it will still take them like 3-5 years to install it into their systems. But better late than never.

Maybe some day we will be able to use windows as our server wink.gif

What I am wondering is if Microsoft is going to implement ANN(artificial neural networking) into Longhorn or if they are going to hold off on the idea. If they were to include this technology into the new system along with the biometrics, it would be a real turning point such as an intrusion detection system that learns by simulating attacks and thwarting them. MS at one point spoke briefly about the implementation of such technologies into their firewall system, but I haven't heard anything since.
