I've always wanted to register since 2003. It said that you weren't accepting new members, but I kept trying for about 2 years, then I quit one day. Then at my last attempt, I'm registered.

Thank you governmentsecurity!

So registration is allowed again???? I know a couple of friends of mine may wish to join.....
If registration is allowed again, how long will it before?
I think it is a good idea you close registration at times, it stops too many n00bs from being on the forum...

Actually, when I became a member, trial members were still very, very limited. I liked this because it forced members to produce actual results before being given full board access.
A lot of good (and sometimes bad) information was being thrown into the trial member's forum at that time! It has slowed down in recent days

Like a lot of the members in this thread, I'd been trying to register for over a year. I even kept GSO up as my home page purely for the great articles. I think I just got curious today and gave it another try. I don't know how many times I saw an interesting topic on the homepage and I tried to click on it anyhow only to be redirected to the 'you must login to view' page.
I have to admit I'm very impressed with the trial membership idea and may consider implementing it on my own forum. After all, why would you want to go and give full access to someone you don't even know and then let them muck around on your board? At the risk of sounding like an info leach, I wanted to join so that I could read and learn (or at least hear pro opinions on some of the issues). I do hope that I'll be able to contribute in some way, but I must admit it seems almost daunting to be in the shadow of so many skilled members

I'm sure most of us would admit that we felt the same way. I sure did when I arrived. Even so, then stay in your area of knowledge and comment on them. But don't be afraid to ask questions and poke around in other areas too.
Remember, the skilled members are here for the less-skilled members. As long as users don't act like idiots, most of the upper ring folks are happy to help.
I sure have picked enough brains around here....

Interesting that people are really wanting to get in, helps spread the word I suppose. Course, we'll know it's time to open up when someone is selling their GSO memberships on Ebay.

I have also been waiting for almost a year and a half to get an account here, and a few days ago whilst surfing around i checked back at GSO and bam registrations were open!
