Hey guys,

current situation is: i'm @ work, have been able to use the squid proxy for MSN (port 1863) and i want to connect to my IRC bouncer through mIRC.

I gave in the ip & port (login/user blank) in Firewall settings @ mIRC but it keeps giving me the message: * Firewall: Connection rejected.

Currently my IRC bouncer runs at port 6667 but i also tried 1863, 5000, ...
Isn't it weird that the proxy allows me to connect to the MSN service but not to my bouncer?

I can tunnel IRC but the speed is worse (using HTTP tunnel) and it disconnects every hour...

Any ideas on this issue?

Are you the operator of the Squid Proxy? If not they may have MSN opened up and allowed but nothing else. If you own the box on the other side I would try stunneling your way out and having your box on the other side NAT you out to the world. Its what I do and I can get out of just about any proxy on the planet to get my mail, send mail, SSH, and hit the Internet encrypted and secure.

if you are the operator of the proxy than IRC should be one of the types of applications it proxies so no clue.

if that isnt the case check your firewall settings and see if mirc is on correct proxy type
simple/quick is type /firewall [hit enter] in mirc status window and see if says something like this
* Firewall is on Proxy (127.0.0.1 1080) thats for http with connect methods
or if it socks4/5 method smile.gif

Too bad that my company doesn't allow outgoing port 22 (only 80 and msn apparently) and my home isp doesn't allow any connections under port 1024 smile.gif
I think my company proxy just doesn't support http connect and msn doesn't need that but mIRC does? tongue.gif
Does anyone know better alternatives to HTTP Tunnel?
Or a program where you can fill in your own proxy server to tunnel to? ProxyCap?
