I thought Microsoft said SP2 protects you. HELL NO!

Well for some reason my SP2 firewall will not start up i have checked my services and everything is a ok. and i have searched for spyware and for viruses (Kaspersky) and nothing is found! I think its a registry problem can somebody help me out?

And please don't give me that "Don't use the microsoft firewall" stuff please.

You know you say Please do not use MS lines,
but in all reality if you rely on microsoft for security anything you might as well stand on the corner of a street with a sign that says come rape me!
If you are in search of a decent free firewall ( much better than MS firewall) there is a free version of outpost firewall, in fact they just released version 4, so go check it out.

well if he talks about zonealarm its a better choice than outpost.
since outpost doesn't say anything about dll injection or thread injection, at least not the previous version.
anyhow telling you use the cool firewall from download.com also gives puts smile on my face.
I would however not stop looking why your firewall does not work.
check the firewall settings in your network preferences and check if the security center is running.
does your service not start or does it start but not block any ports?
if the service is fine and it starts how did you check if your firewall works?
locally you will still be able to access any open port, so thats not the way to check if it works.
anyhow you gave little information to help you

You probably have a trojan on your system which has disabled the firewall.
It is very simple to disable the firewall, I believe you can also disable the firewall by editing the registry.
A lot of script kiddies buy undetected trojan servers...so...your AV isn't always going to detect it.
