iPhone Nano or iPod Touch Nano

The prospect of Apple putting out an iPhone Nano or an iPod touch Nano is going to get all of the Geeks as well as the mainstream consumers all hot and bothered.  I know it got me salivating pretty soon.  Before the Nano I wasn't an apple believer.  I never like the cumbersome size of the iPod and was never really turned onto the prospect of using iTunes for all of my music.  Once the first pictures of the Nano were release I was amazed about how small and thin it was but with the Apple interface still able to maintain so much interface functionality.  If that gives us any foresight into the way that Apple is going to produce the iPhone Nano or the iPod Nano then you can expect to see me on the waiting line.

iPhone Nano or iPod Touch NanoThe reason for all of the hoopla about the iPhone Nano or the iPod Nano is that some new case design has recently been spotted.  Now why is that such a big deal?  Well the original specs for the iPhone 3G were released much in the same manner.  See Apple wants to have the accessories for such device out and in the wild before the actual device is released.  If they didn't they would lose a prime window for impulse purchases.  Most people buy about 90% of all of their accessories when they first purchase their phone or their gadget.  It makes sense if you think about it.  You are already spending a few hundred bucks, so what’s $30 bucks more.   To meet this demand, Apple releases form factor information out to select manufacturers ahead of time.  That way they have the time to produce the cases.

So the latest news is the fact that the Far East rubber manufacturer XSKN is producing a case that looks like it could be for an iPhone Nano or an iPod touch Nano device.  Now as you can see by the design spec, the size is slightly smaller than the iPhone.  Is this a positive thing?  Well my only worry is Apple will keep the same resolution screen.  If they are going to shrink the overall screen for these great devices they are going to need to increase the resolution.  We don't need them to become even less functional.  Right now the iPhone is right on the border and with all of your high resolution screen on the new smartphone device, Apple is riding the line on letting competitors pass them by.  So let’s keep our fingers crossed.
