As it is now any fresh nuke install from phpnuke.org can be easily hacked by any kid with an exploit. It has always been like this for phpnuke however as there has always been third party sites that patch and fix all coding errors in the application. ...
In the last year a new group has came together and made a modified and secured version of nuke called Nuke Evolution. They have implemented many mods, fixes, hacks, and other coding to make it the fastest and most secure nuke distro ever. It comes stock with a caching system, Nuke Sentinel security system, fancy newsletter, many forum mods, and much more. At first glance many will think this is a cms for gaming clans but as its popularity increases other webmasters are turning to it. The functionality, speed, and security outweigh any other cms.
This is and will continue to be an open source project with free support on their forums. In my experience of working with evolution and technocrat the founder I have seen no complaint, bug report, or security problem go ignored. They are constantly working on new features and ways to make it faster.
For webmasters who need a fast and secure cms I suggest the Nuke Evolution. I do not however recommend any stock install from phpnuke.org, It is like pointing a loaded gun at your domain. If you would like something more traditional to basic nuke then RavenNuke is a great alternative. It is basically just a real secure regular nuke version.
As far as compatibility all nuke modules, blocks, and mods work with Evo with little or no modification. Themes however must be converted which many sites are doing that now. Just look for the Nuke Evolution Network at the top of the site at www.nuke-evolution.com and you will find what you need.
