You should probbaly get this application pretty fast because I doubt it is going to remain on the iPhone app store for very long. SMS Touch is an application for your iPhone that lets you compose SMS text messages in landscape mode. But the real kicker is the fact that you can use the software to send SMS messages for free. That's right we said free, that means that you can skip those hefty text message charges that AT&T imposes on you.
What SMS touch does is forward your messages through an SMS gateway. So basically your SMS messages first start off as e-mail messages that are then sent to the SMS gateway that is run by SMS touch. The SMS touch servers then convert your e-mail message to an SMS message has been sent to the recipient. So you do not get charged for the messages and each one is basically free. Unfortunately the application itself isn't free and it will run you five dollars in the Apple iPhone app store.A few things that people should know before they actually purchase SMS touch is the fact that sending and receiving SMS messages is a bit slower than when doing it directly to your phone. This is most likely due to the fact your messages are being relayed through the SMS touch SMS gateway servers. Also one of the biggest drawbacks is the fact that the from field that your friends will see on the SMS message will not be from your phone number and usually shows up as a random number of ones and zeros.
