PlayStation has decided to take the entire social media experiment and really push it to the limit. Where the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 stopped at the simple use of avatars to promote interaction from their users, Sony has decided to introduce the entire gaming community to what is actually a complete rip off of the video game Second Life. Frankly being that this game is completely related to the Second Life experience I sure hope that the PlayStation home experience doesn't become a huge mix of pedophiles and horny college kids. Because we all know that's basically what became of Second Life. Sure I am expecting Sony to try to keep this service as clean as possible to maintain its glossy family image. But it's next to impossible to keep the smut out.

A huge title that is the highly anticipated sequal to one othe best games to have come out for PS3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves continues where the original story left off and sets Nathan Drake on an almost impossible quest seeking rare artifacts and the frozen Arctic tundra. For those that may not be familiar with the uncharted gaming series the uncharted series places the main character Nathan Drake in a world of danger and Indinana Jonesish Action.

Rise of the Argonauts is obviously based on the Greek mythological story about Jason and his quest to acquire the golden fleece. What has been done for this game is the classic story has been give a "God of War" feel by taking the blood and violence to mythical proportions. And all I have to say is it is great. The game is entirely combat oriented. The goal is to increase your proficiency in all combat related skills so then Jason can increase his killing ratio to the highest levels in Rise of the Argonauts for X360 and PS3.

Sonic is back in this latest addition to the sonic series on the PS3 called sonic unleashed. In the previously released version of the sonic franchise many reviewers or fail to be impressed by Sega. Sega took the beatings with stride and really push the envelope and use the complete graphical engine of the PS3 to bring sonic unleashed to life. The graphics on the game are as expected to be fantastically rendered both on the PS3 version as well as on the Xbox 360 version.

Everyone loves Halo but not everyone loves a first-person shooter. In response to the much loved real-time strategy game genre Microsoft is releasing Halo wars for the Xbox 360. Halo wars puts you in all the action of the human struggle for domination that puts you in the commander's seat by letting you strategize and command your space Marines in the epic struggle for survival. Halo wars is an entirely different game from the standard twitch action that you experience when playing Halo against your college buddies. Halo wars for the Xbox 360 allows the armchair general to make life-and-death decisions and direct how the battle plays out.

Yes, Christmas news has finally come early for those of us who are fans of SimCity. Electronic arts will be releasing SimCity for the iPhone. And we're not talking about a crappy version of the original SimCity four Windows 3.11 that we have seen on so many other mobile devices. No we are talking about a full replica of SimCity 3000. Okay maybe not a complete port of SimCity 3000 but definitely a worthy iPhone application. Obviously SimCity for the iPhone will probably become the number one time waster for myself and for about 1 million other people.

It was basically an inventor's TV show where people would create machines that would safely transport eggs. Not exactly the most riveting thing in the world. Rockstar games has recently announced that the latest addition to the Grand Theft Auto IV series will be released on February 2, 2009. The release of the downloadable content for Xbox 360 is part of the deal that Microsoft made with rockstar games. Supposedly Microsoft in an attempt to convert some Playstation fans to the Xbox 360 (the Grand Theft Auto series gained its popularity while on the Playstation 2), Microsoft gave a $50 million loan to Take Two Interactive in exchange for two exclusive downloadable expansion packs.

In case you haven't been up on your geek history today marks the 10th anniversary of the first release of half-life. Probably one of the most influential and along with gaming platforms to ever grace the PC and console screen. In honor of this historic event the group over at the Black Mesa project have decided to release some screen shots of the new Black Mesa Source. Black Mesa Source is a user created mod for the Half Life 2 engine. It is also one of the most gorgeous user generated mods that I have ever seen and I won't be surprised if Valve picks up the project for release through Steam.

Major Nelson the self-appointed mascot of Xbox live has posted a list of the top 10 things to do with the latest Xbox live experience upgrade. In case you have been living under a rock Xbox live was upgraded this morning which gives you access to a huge number of features. Probably the most notable was access to the streaming video content for Netflix subscribers. Also some less stellar announcements were made for our younger viewers such as new animated avatars. I know a lot of people have been a bit leery about the corny factor of using animated avatars to show off your online persona. Sounds a bit too much like the Wii if you ask me.
