Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 and XBox Print E-mail
Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 and XBoxSonic is back in this latest addition to the sonic series on the PS3 called sonic unleashed. In the previously released version of the sonic franchise many reviewers or fail to be impressed by Sega. Sega took the beatings with stride and really push the envelope and use the complete graphical engine of the PS3 to bring sonic unleashed to life. The graphics on the game are as expected to be fantastically rendered both on the PS3 version as well as on the Xbox 360 version.

Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 and XBoxThe game slightly alters from sonics pure speed roots as the game offers two different distinct playing styles. The most classic of the styles are the daylight levels which consist of you guiding sonic through the vast levels while collecting rings to increase your overall points as well as in competing against your times. The second game type are the night missions were sonic the hedgehog is converted to something called a werehog and he basically compete in a brawler style gameplay action. Many people are going to be left scratching their head if they consider this as an integration into the current storyline instead of viewing it as a whole new piece of the game. I found that I enjoyed it more if I treated it like it was a game within a game.

Good news for fans of the series, playing through these three daytime levels reminded us most of Sonic's 2D 16-bit days, where speed had to be balanced out with fast reflexes and knowledge of the best paths to take through levels. The key is obviously to maintain the highest speed possible.

So here are a few tips on getting a high score. You need to cut down on how much you move sonic back and forth using the analog sticks inside of Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 and XBox. The biggest tip I can give you is to use the left and right shoulder buttons to quickly sidestepped past objects. By using these buttons instead of the analog stick you cut down on the amount of speed that you lose one avoiding obstacles. It may not seem to make that big of a difference at first but trust me the small savings on speed really accumulates as you progress through the levels. Also make sure that you have memorized the layout of your controller as Sonic Unleashed for the PS3 and XBox also has a number of button combination games where you need to match the timing and what buttons to hit based on cues on the screen. If you get the combination is wrong and you are forced to take a less that has less rings and also more enemies. If you want any chance at a high score and you miss the combination the best thing to do is just restart the level.
