Niko is back and finally on the PC. After a large number of delays Grand Theft Auto IV for PC will be released on December 2, 2008 just in time for the holiday season. Niko is up to the same games he's playing on the console counterparts of the Grand Theft Auto IV series. But rockstar didn't want to leave the PC fans with nothing to hold in their hands after waiting so long for Grand Theft Auto IV for PC to finally come out. The biggest feature that everyone is talking about that is exclusively available on the PC version only is the integration of a fully interactive video editing program.
So yes you get all of the great missions that are offered in the console edition of Grand Theft Auto IV but you won't have access to any of the downloadable content that is being offered to either the PS3 or the Xbox 360. But here are some things that you can think about that might make you feel a lot better for having to wait for such a long time and through so many delays to get your hands on the Grand Theft Auto IV for PC software.
Great graphics -- if your PC can handle the high-end specs you can get some really great graphical images on the game. I know when I first saw the grand theft auto game series on PC I was always highly disappointed I have the graphics look when displayed on a high-resolution display like your computer monitor. But the fact that Grand Theft Auto IV for PC is designed to use graphics that were going to be displayed on high definition displays you really get an amazing gaming experience. The Mods -- one thing your console brothers will never be able to compete with you on is the huge amount of user generated content that is going to come out for this game. I know that long after I gave up playing grand theft auto series on my console units I was still playing with the version I had purchased for my PC. Nothing is better than playing with custom cars or modified physics rules. Or even fully re-created versions of the game set in an entirely different environment such as the Futurama expansion for liberty city. I probably spent just as many hours beating that version of the game than playing the original.
Video Editing - probably the biggest difference offered on the Grand Theft Auto IV for PC version of the game is the fact that rockstar games has integrated a complete DVR system into the game itself. Basically the entire time you're playing a game the system is making a full-length movie. And any time you can pause or rewind the action that you just did so that you can capture all of those cool stunts. How many times were you in the middle of a car chase and then all of a sudden you hit a bump in the road and did a complete 360 while smashing through a crowd full of people on the beach. I'm sure that afterwards you were like, "I wish I was able to send that video to my friends". Well now you can since you can easily view on the action and capture and then edit the video to post on YouTube.com or any one of the other video sharing sites.
All I have to say is if you have been waiting Grand Theft Auto IV for PC then you haven't waited in vain. And even if you own the console version of the game I highly recommend you picking up Grand Theft Auto IV for PC and taking advantage of all of the user generated content that will become available shortly.
