Rise of the Argonauts is obviously based on the Greek mythological story about Jason and his quest to acquire the golden fleece. What has been done for this game is the classic story has been give a "God of War" feel by taking the blood and violence to mythical proportions. And all I have to say is it is great. The game is entirely combat oriented. The goal is to increase your proficiency in all combat related skills so then Jason can increase his killing ratio to the highest levels in Rise of the Argonauts for X360 and PS3.
They say that Rise of the Argonauts is a role-playing game but I think that they use that term extremely loosely since it seems that the goal of the game is primarily twitch combat. But I guess the role-playing aspect comes in by the fact that you must progress by taking upgrades to both the weapons combat skills and armor. As a weapon master proficient in many combat arts, Jason can use a sword, spear, or mace from the beginning of the game. Along the way he'll find five upgrades for each weapon, as well as five improved sets of armor and clothing. A pretty cool feature and part of the great graphical detail and time again in the fact that each one of the weapons that you use is detailed on your actual character. It really gives you the feel of having equipment at the ready at all times.Another great part of the Rise of the Argonauts game are the extreme finishing moves. It really gives you a great buzz to remove someone's vital organ with such fervor. When you attack someone with a sword, he loses at least a limb or a vital organ. Some of the great finishing moves have you bent over and sliceing a guy in half. You can acomplish this buy knocking away an enemy's shield which will almost always result in a split second where his torso is exposed. At that point, you can slice it in half.
Another extremely important part of Rise of the Argonauts for X360 and PS3 is the creation and assembly of your team. This is one of the few places where the role-playing action also comes into play since in most cases you're using your skills to hack and slash the competition. The strategic thinking that goes into developing the proper balance of your team will greatly affect how easy it is for you to complete the multitude of missions as well as gain proper upgrades throughout Rise of the Argonauts for X360 and PS3.
I would say that the best description of this game is a combination of God of war and Elder scrolls oblivion. No matter what your opinion may be role-playing game genre you should really give Rise of the Argonauts for X360 and PS3 some playtime.
