The one thing has to remain clear no matter what content that blizzard has added to the game or how many improvements they make to the game play and interface the game still world of war craft.  You aren't going to see any massive improvements to the game when it comes to graphics and performance since the game engine is still the same.  Well now that we have gotten that out of the way I can safely tell you that Wrath of the Lich King is a fantastic expansion and will continue to mark the dominance of blizzard entertainment in the genre.

When compared to the previous expansion, The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, has made leaps and bounds when it comes to the core mechanics of the game.  But as with any expansion there are going to be some haters but in the long run the changes that were made to the mechanics will prove to be a much-needed improvement to world war craft.

One thing that people will notice is the fact that blizzard continues to put an extremely high level of graphical detail into Wrath of the Lich King.  Though the core engine hasn't changed people who are familiar with the graphical nuances of the game will not be disappointed. Wrath of the Lich King oozes the fact that blizzard put an immense amount of time into this expansion pack and in no way does it feel that the expansion pack was rushed out the door just in time for the holiday buying season. Wrath of the Lich King is going to prove pivotal point for the world war craft community.  The massively multiplayer online gaming genre has become extremely crowded with some very successful alternatives.  So blizzard has continued to push the bar on each new expansion for the game knowing that they can't change the game too much or else they could alienate their core audience.

Wrath of the Lich King introduces a whole series of new quests for your higher-level characters who have been feening for a new opportunity to continue their grind to excellence.  Besides the completely new quest and storyline you're also introduce to a brand-new hero character class called the death Knights.  What makes the death Knights character class so intriguing is the fact that it is not limited to one race.  You can choose the class no matter if you were previously on the horde or on the alliance side.  This may seem as a bit of a deviance from the original storyline to most veteran players since you would think that characters associated with death would automatically be associated with the horde.  But the quest line inside of Wrath of the Lich King completely explains this and seamlessly integrates the new character class into gameplay.  So all of you veteran players out there just be patient and follow the quest line before you pass judgment on the expansion.

So if you hung up your world war craft hat and have been waiting for an excuse to come back to the fold then this is your opportunity to do so.  I know that right now for many people money is tight but I can't recommend Wrath of the Lich King enough.  So when you have your credit card out think of it this way.  You could spend 30 bucks on the DVD and get two hours maximum enjoyment or spend a few dollars more on the Wrath of the Lich King and get thousands of opportunities to waste your free time away and ignore your kids ;-)
